Prince of Egypt

April 30th, 2009

It is often the case that the ideas of successful games are copied. This situation is common not just for games. Interesting ideas are often used by other people, and implemented as the own works. One can argue for a long time whether it is good or bad. The fact is that there is only one market and if the original manufacturer is unable to overcome the market quickly for any reason then someone will come who will do it. The good example in my opinion is the mobile game “Prince of Egypt“ well known as „Prince of Persia“. The game concept, design and even the name of the game are common. It does not mean that you should ignore this game. On the contrary! I think that all the fans of Prince of Persia should be glad to have this game. I’ve tested the game today and must say that this game is quite funny. In spite of the fact that the story behind the game is quite meager, but the atmosphere of ancient Egypt and the pleasant 2D graphics make the game very exciting and interesting. I don’t know what about you, but I stand on these mummies stories since my childhood. All these mysterious rituals, powerful deities, magic, etc., have always fascinated me. With this game, I have an opportunity to visit this mysterious world.
I recommend this game to all fans of Prince of Persia and the ancient Egypt.

Lock n Load 2

Lock n Load 2

I remember it well, how excited I was, while playing the first 3D shooter in my life. It was the game “Zero Tolerance” (Sega Mega Drive). I heard that there are 3D games like Doom, but it is better to see it one time than to read 100 times about it. I did not think, that the time comes, and I would be able to play a similar game on a mobile phone. I would say that the graphics of modern 3D shooters on the phone is better than on Sega Megadrive. The only thing that I miss while playing Lock n Loader 2 is a joystick, but it is not very great problem. Especially I like the multiplayer feature, because that makes the game more interesting for me, it is not just a throwaway game now, because I play often with my friends, and it is much more funny than single player mode.
Here some of the main features of the game that I really like:

Tremendous number of weapons and enhancements
Huge levels with a lot of elements
Intelligent enemies and difficult bosses
3D graphics with fantastic sound
Multiplayer via Bluetooth and Internet
Communication via integrated chat system

Atlantic Battle by MobiLeap

December 17th, 2008

Although Atlantic Battle is just another version of J2ME fleet fight game, I would like to explicitly tell about this game here. This game is so interesting, because it has the possibility to play in multiplayer mode with friends and it is regardless of where you enemies are.
The data transmission goes through GPRS, which, fairly comfortable today’s because of relatively low prices. Moreover, you has the possibility during the game to communicate with your enemy by sending messages. This is also very beneficial, because the messages that are transferred via GPRS, cost only a fraction of the costs that might arise if these messages would be sent via SMS.
Among the other highlights of the game is the nice graphics and animation. Moreover, I find the automatic feature of the arrangement of the vessels very useful, although if you want to play, but you have no time for manual configuration of the ships.
And if you have no human opponent at moment, you can always play a single-mode game.

Cuban Missile Crisis

September 6th, 2008

Have you ever thought about what would happen if Cuban crisis, of in the sixties, between U.S. and USSR, had a different outcome? President J.F. Kennedy and Chrustschew were able to prevent the worst catastrophe in human history, but it could be an other way.
Such an alternative story tells the game Cuban Missile Crisis. This game is a shooter game, where you should kill as many opponents as you can. You must fight not only against people but also against different types of tanks, what increases the degree of difficulty significantly. Fortunately, you can collect during the game med kits and it’s makes the survival a little easier.
When I started the game for the first time, I was very pleased with the graphics. The smallest rocks and trees and houses and other parts of the virtual world are so well drawn that it seems that the game is not written in Java.
However, there game has not only good sides but some bad ones too. The reason for a big minus is – the game has absolutely no sound. Although I am sure that most players tend to play without sound, because you are not need it, I can’t understand the reason of the renunciation of sound.

Dune + Civilization = Revival

July 31st, 2008

Strategy is one of the best genres of games that are playable on mobile phones. But the choice of tactics games is unfortunately not so big as I would wish me.
Perhaps because of that reason I was very pleased when I discovered the game “Revival”.
This is a strategy game, where you take the role of an emissary of a well-developed of the seven races. You will be sent to the one of the many planets of a galaxy, in order to build a civilization there. Each planet consists of several types of zones. Each zone type hides different types of resources. The most important are: gold, iron and food. Of course, you should be able to manage these resources as efficiently as possible like in any other game of this type. The profit of resources can be accelerated by constructing of appropriated buildings at certain locations. Depending on the the evolution progress, the cities will be greater, the number of units increase in a geometric progression, making it very difficult to continue playing the role of the leader. You will always need more time to make a few new steps. I find this very positive, because you will need much time to finish all missions. The fun of the game goes not so fast away, like in some other games of the case.
The only thing that disappointed me in the game was the graphics. This is really primitive and although the graphics in the strategy games plays a subordinate role, I would wish me a bit more for this game.

Ice Age 2: Arctic Slide

June 29th, 2008

Ice Age 2: Arctic Slide is a very funny game where you can play as one from the animated movie Ice Age very famous, squirrel. Most of you understood already what is a task of the game. Right! You need to collect nuts. A lot of nuts! :)
The game reminded me somehow the game “Sonic The Hedgehog,” , the mascot for the console manufacturer Sega.
In order to complete a level, you have to collect a certain number of nuts. You way is not linear, so you have the possibility to choose between different ways. But it advisible to choose a higher way, because there are many nuts there. This path is relatively difficult, so you would not complete it at once, but it is a quickest one.
Except nuts you will find “lives”. Although the game is not very demanding, but if you loose, you can always repeat the level without to start the game from the beginning, because all known levels are repeatable.
There are many obstacles on the way of the squirrel. Such include snow balls and large stones. It is not easy to escape from them, but probably doable. As an additional help you can use the small arrows. They show the particularly dangerous situations. Besides stones and snow balls, there are avalanches and stalagmites. The last naturally found in caves.

As I said, the game is quite funny. The only thing that has disappointed me is the music. There are one or two good tunes, while others are rather disappointing.
I know several games, made after a movie or animated film. Most of them are pretty mediocre. This game doesn’t belongs to them.

Disney Mobile and Playmobile invite us to test a new racing game: “Cars: Radiator Springs 500″

May 31st, 2008

Cars

Actually, “Cars: Radiator Springs 500″ ist the second game with story about probably one of the most famous animated films by Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures – “Cars”. I’m sure that the fans of racing games and Cars fans will be glad, to see the popular cartoon heroes again.
„Cars: Radiator Springs 500“ is not an arcade game, but a fully functional racing game with a beautiful graphics in the style of animated film “Cars”.
The Game contains 15 race tracks. The player enters the game in role of the main actors of the film – Lighting Mcqueen and had to resist against 5 opponents. The opponents will fight for the victory in the race too. Each car has it own unique features that could help to win the race. These features you learn best in the training mode before beginning the championship. The great feature of the game is that it is still far from being boring, because even if the game is played until the end and you knows all the tracks perfectly, you can create your own tracks and continue to play.

I have played through the game and must say that although I am not a fan of racing games, especially when you must play with help of mobile phone keyboard, I was very pleasured while playing this mobile game.
The control of the game is very intuitive. The graphics are very nice. And if you have a little of imagination, you will be able to create own funny tracks with help of track editor.

JugglingChamp is a nice sport-game, developed by Tiny Solution. The game is very attractive and enjoyable because of it simplicity and good graphic. Although I’m not a fan of sport games, I found this mobile game quite good.
The mission of the game is to hold the ball in air so long as possible. The player receives scores for each successful kick and has a possibility to eternize his scores in online database.

There are 2 ways to purchase this game, you can download a free, but advertising financed game or buy a free from advertising version.
